“They set fire to me while I was sleeping near the railway.” Rescue in Anzio

He got on the train at Padiglione station, on the Rome-Naples route via Formia, with his trousers already burned. KR, a 42-year-old Indian homeless man, was already covered in burns, especially on his legs, as well as on his neck. He is now hospitalized at the Sant’Eugenio hospital with a 30-day prognosis. It wouldn’t be life threatening. The man told the police that someone had set him on fire shortly before midday yesterday while he was sleeping on a makeshift bed under an overpass near the tracks.

The agents of the Anzio police station are investigating the case. The homeless man was already interviewed by the investigators who carried out an inspection at the Pavilion station to see if there were traces of burning where the man indicated. The Indian reported that he immediately boarded the train, perhaps to escape whoever had set it on fire, and then got off at the Villa Claudia station. There he was rescued and then taken to hospital in Rome with an Ares 118 ambulance. The video surveillance images are being examined to understand what happened to the man.
