She was born with an emergency caesarean section, performed on the mother who died due to the bombs in Rafah, dropped during the conflict that is bloodying the Middle East (THE SPECIAL OF SKY TG24). She weighed one kilogram and four hundred grams when she was placed in an incubator at the Emirates hospital in Gaza. But for little Sabreen, who was born on Sunday night from her now lifeless mother’s womb, after five days all hope was over. Her lungs weren’t strong enough. Her baby died yesterday in the hospital where she had been hospitalized in critical condition due to serious breathing difficulties. The BBC confirmed it.
Buried next to her parents
Sabreen, Dr Mohammed Salama, head of the emergency neonatal unit at the Rafah hospital, explained after her birth, “should have been in her mother’s womb, but she was deprived of this right”. Now that she is no longer there her relatives buried her next to her father, little sister and mother, whose name the little girl inherited.
The story of the family
Sabreen’s family had been victims of the bombs last Sunday night, just before midnight. Everyone was sleeping in the apartment of a Rafah residential complex when Israeli bombs hit the building. There were mother Sabreen, in fact, 30 weeks pregnant, father Shukri and the other daughter, Malak. The latter lost their lives immediately, while the woman was injured, albeit seriously, with the baby extracted from her womb when there was nothing left to do. “God took something from us, but he gave us something else in return. Now he has taken them all. My brother’s family has been completely erased. There is no trace of him anymore,” said the little girl’s uncle. In that attack, in addition to the little girl, 15 other children died. They all lived in the same bombed-out apartment complex.
