Scams for telephone, gas and electricity subscriptions without authorization are increasing, even in Pisticci

Numerous reports continue to arrive at Adiconsum, regarding not only the increases in the cost of electricity, gas or telephone services, but also the deception and abuse to which the elderly, in particular, are subjected.

This is what happened to Mrs. Maria, an 82-year-old from Pisticci, who received a bill from a manager other than her own, as she was a subscriber to Enel National Electrical Service. Although the lady did not provide data and consent, she saw this invoice arrive without having signed any new subscription and without even having signed it.

Mrs. Pisticci turned to Adiconsum who proceeded to send a complaint to the unauthorized supplier for the denial of the contract and to request the cancellation of the invoice issued. After the complaint, the lady was contacted again and with more or less sincere apologies she was even asked to sign the contract.

So be careful of this type of scam that unscrupulous call center operators increasingly implement in order to “bring home a subscription”, especially to the detriment of elderly people who are often unaware of what they are talking about. By ignobly exploiting these people’s lack of information, very often new subscriptions are activated without their consent, which are only advantageous for those who offer them.
