Salussola Gold and Stone Museum opens

Salussola Gold and Stone Museum

Salussola Gold and Stone Museum

The herbarium room of the Gold and Stone Museum reopens with the new layout, expanded and enriched thanks to the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation. An opportunity, from 4 to 12 May, for an immersion in the world of nature with a series of interesting initiatives. There are currently seven “exiccata” herbaria on display in the room, a precious collection created over time as a result of bequests and donations from private individuals, some of which were created in the botanical laboratories of the local school. Among the herbariums, the oldest one dating back to 1786, the work of the doctor Aloisio Gagna, whose samples are medicinal herbs of the native flora and a box of precious, refined botanical tables by Alfonso and Ada Sella, stand out.
The event is framed by an exhibition of naturalistic watercolors by Paola Merlin, a popular painter from Biella.
