Municipalities’ payment times.

Good news for companies that work with municipalities of Friuli Venezia Giulia: i payment times of the administrations of our region, in fact, are among the shortest in Italy. Indeed, a capital of Fvg holds the national record.

It was the Local Government Study Centre to take a snapshot of how many days does it take to get your invoices paid by the Municipalities and the result is that, in 2023, the provincial capitals of the South took almost a month longer to pay off their debts compared to those of the Center and North.

In fact, by January 31st of each year, public administrations they must publish on their site institutional lannual index of timeliness of payments referring to the previous year. This indicator measures how many days after receiving an invoice or request for payment, the commercial debts contracted by the entity have on average been paid.

The provincial capital cities last year they paid their suppliers, on average, in 27 days, thus achieving the objective set in 2022 by the reference law, which provides that commercial debts must be paid within 30 days from the date of receipt of the invoice or payment request (except for specific agreements, in particular cases, which extend this limit up to 60 days).

The record in Friuli.

In this ranking of “hare” municipalities, a city in Friuli even earns first national place among the most virtuous: it’s Pordenonewhich on average settles its payments to 8 days, i.e. 22 days in advance of the maximum limit imposed by law. Next, there are Padua and Grosseto. Black jersey, however, for Naples which takes almost six months (173 days).

Among other things, Pordenone it also marks a clear improvement: in 2022, the days used were around 19, so it managed to shorten the time by 11 days in a year. As for the other capital cities, all are below the national average: in Trieste, payment times decreased from 18 to 16 days while in Gorizia and Udine they worsened slightly: the former went from 18.75 to 19.67 ; the second gives almost 19 days (18.78 2022) at 20.23 (in 2023), the “slowest” among the large cities of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
