CORINALDO Disturbances in the hinterland where in Corinaldo yesterday the medical emergency was called off for the umpteenth time as often happens on holidays while in Ostra it was feared that she had felt ill. A patient, unable to contact her, raised the alarm around 6.30pm, fearing the worst. Carabinieri and firefighters intervened on site. The latter broke the glass of the door, activating the procedure required for personal rescue. The room, however, was empty.

In reality, no one had been able to call her for over an hour because the mobile phone she had with her was not working. It was the medical guard who informed the health district around 8pm, having learned that they were looking for her, that she had returned to the office. «I was making a home visit – she explains – and unfortunately the phone wasn’t working, as often happens. Upon returning to the office, I received all the messages from the calls received.”

In short, false alarm. Furthermore, this is a medical guard who has never been absent on public holidays. It has never jumped to Ostra, unlike the one in Corinaldo which was also merged yesterday with Ostra Vetere. Things are no better in Senigallia. Margherita Angeletti and Rodolfo Piazzai, councilors of the Democratic Party, denounce «shifts of 118 uncovered, without a doctor present in the ambulance. This is a very serious fact, which takes us back 40 years, when ambulances, managed by the Red Cross, came to the rescue with certainly trained personnel but without doctors. In 2024 it is not acceptable that the emergency is managed in such an inadequate way, with the imminent arrival of the summer season.”

They also complain that «perhaps those who have to make decisions, in particular Saltamartini, councilor for health, and councilor Ciccioli are too busy looking for funds for the electoral pool or doing catwalks. Is the mayor aware of these unpleasant and dangerous situations and, if he is, what does he intend to do?
