The events organized as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the historic first ascent of the west face of Cerro Torre by the 1974 “Città di Lecco” expedition continue. Saturday 4 May 2024 protagonists will be the Grignetta spiders, with the conference starting at 9pm at the Auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce in Viale Tonale 28/30 in Lecco.
“Patagonia yesterday and today”, Ragni di Lecco protagonists
The meeting, with free admission, will retrace the history of the greatest adventures of the association, highlighting the changes and evolutions of climbing in the mountains at the extreme south of the Andean cordillera from the exploratory times of the first ascent of the west face of Torre a Today. During the event, the journalist and writer Serafino Ripamonti will retrace the history of the Ragni’s Patagonian expeditions from their origins to the seventies, while the new protagonists of the Ragni’s mountaineering (among others Giovanni Ongaro, Matteo Della Bordella, Luca Schiera, Matteo De Zaiacomo and Dimitri Anghileri) will talk about their Patagonia live.
On Friday 10 May at 5pm, again in Lecco, the exhibition “Patagonia yesterday and today” will be inaugurated on the ground floor of the Palazzo delle Paure in Piazza XX Settembre.always curated by the Ragni della Grignetta. The exhibition, which consists of twenty panels composed of short explanatory texts and large and evocative photographic images, will provide an overview of some of the most significant expeditions in which the Red Maglioni took part, from the one that saw Carlo Mauri reach the top of Monte Sarmiento in 1956, to the route opened in Alpine style on the east face of Cerro Torre by Matteo Della Bordella, David Bacci and Matteo De Zaiacomo, in 2022. The exhibition, with free entry, will be open to visitors until Sunday 26 May, at the following times: Closed Monday, Tuesday from 10am to 2pm, Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm (free entry).
