THE MATCH Ben Tara’s dunk and Giannelli’s ace are ready. But it’s the beginning of a battle. Galassi and his teammates push hard (5-5). Monza is fighting at the net (10-8). The balance is broken with a block from Flavio (12-8) and an ace from Plotnytskyi (15-9). The left-handed Ukrainian is in the evening, but Semeniuk is also hot on serve (double ace for 21-12). Eccheli’s team struggles to find rhythm, Perugia takes the partial (25-15).
PalaBarton’s charge and the lost set did not demoralize Monza (2-3). Second set balanced and broken up by various video checks (5-5). Perugia doesn’t give up, but trembles at 8-7 due to a fall by Giannelli, without consequences. From there Sir goes into fifth gear: block and attack (10-7). The batting also grew with Russo (15-8) and Perugia took off (20-12). Loeppky tries to put his team back in the running (22-16), but Plotnytskyi says no and puts Perugia up 2-0 (25-18).
Monza tries to raise the wall (2-2). Galassi in the spotlight (5-6) for the first concrete advantage (7-9) of the Brianza team. Ben Tara dampens the enthusiasm (10-10), Plotnytskyi reverses (12-10). Monza seems to be back in trouble, with Sir immediately pulling away (15-12). But the games remain open (17-16). There is the new turnaround ahead (20-22). Lorenzetti plays the Leon card, immediately incisive (22-23). It’s not enough: Maar finds the ace to make it 2-1 (24-26).
Two blocks by Ben Tara put the Block Devils back in the running (3-0). Monza wants to compete (7-5), but captain Leon goes wild (10-6). More shivers for Sir fans due to a Flavio-Ben Tara clash, also without consequences. Takahashi tries to relaunch him (11-10), Leon isn’t up for it (16-15). Another great block helps Perugia get back ahead (18-15) and manage the set (17-21). The set ends with the Leon show on serve (17-23) and yet another outburst from an excellent Ben Tara (25-19).

COMMENTS Wilfredo Leon (Sir Susa Vim Perugia): “Beautiful match by the team. I’m happy and proud of how we played today, especially in the first two sets. It was also great to play in front of five thousand people, now we’ll try to do better on Sunday in Monza.” Gabriele Di Martino (Mint Vero Volley Monza): “Perugia’s serve put us in a bit of difficulty, but in the third set we found our certainties on the court again, winning the set.
