BOLLATE – On Liberation Day, three series played in A1 softball ended with one victory each, including the awaited high-ranking derby between Mkf Bollate and Inox Team Saronno. Rheavendors Caronno moves up the rankingsthe only team to complete a double against the Thunders.

MKF Bollate – Inox Team Saronno

Many inaccuracies and a second half of the match with explosive attacks are the leitmotif of the first match of the long-awaited high-ranking derby between Bollate and Saronno. Bollate takes the lead with the single by Laura Bigatton in the first inning, but Saronno immediately equalized with the run scored by Sara Cianfriglia on a crazy throw from Bigatton herself, starting rossoblù. After an unsuccessful second half, the match finally ended starting from the fourth half: Brugnoli takes Saronno ahead with a 2-RBI double, but Gabriela Slaba, the most productive of the Bollate lineup (3-4, 5 RBI), halved the deficit with a sacrifice fly. The Nerazzurre extend their lead to 6-2 with three points born from a defensive error and brought home by Lozada, Blesa And Arianna Nicolini against Greta Cecchetti, entered to take over Bigatton. However, the decisive breakthrough comes from Bollate in the fifth attack: Irene Costa hits a two-run home run that halves the deficit, then, like a river in flood, Elisa Cecchetti (single), Slaba (triple) and Bigatton (single) give the hosts the lead. The change on the platform is not enough in Saronno Alice Ghillani in the place of Chiara Rusconiin the sixth round Bollate manages to score another three points thanks to Slaba and the base on balls won by Binetti and the meeting ends on11-7 in favor of the team currently leading the championship.

Race 2 has a great protagonist, Kandra Lamb. The Australian pitcher from Saronno, in third shutout in five seasonal outings, he achieved the heaviest one so far, inflicting Bollate’s first defeat of the season. Only four hits conceded (three singles, a double by Cecchetti), three bases on balls conceded and 11 strikeouts scored to pave the way for their teammates in attack, capable of immediately breaking the deadlock in the first inning with the home run of Milagros Lozada against the great ex of the day, Alice Nicolini. In the third half, a hit by pitch on Blesa with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly by Brugnoli allowed the Nerazzurri to extend the lead to 3-0, with the games ending a couple of fractions later again at the hands of Sara Brugnoliwhose fly ball goes even further this time, over the fences to left, for the home run of 6-0. For Bollate Greta Cecchetti comes to the plate, giving very little to the visiting bats, but it is now too late: Lamb completes a dream evening with the last strikeout on Franzoni to close the match.

Rheavendors Caronno – Thunders

Attacks on the shields and offensive spectacle in the first race on the Caronno diamond. 28 total hits (16 to 12 for Caronno) and 17 points scored in a match in which the two pitchers, Bianca Messina Garibaldi on the one hand and Chiara Biasi on the other hand, they had a hard time despite the extreme precision of their pitches (zero bases on balls overall). The start smiled on Caronno who, despite the home run by Risa Soma for the Thunders, they find themselves leading 6-1 after the first two rounds thanks to the solid upper part of the lineup, with Alicart, Edwards And Sheldon on the shields with three hits each in the match. The situation appears to be on ice for the Lombard team, but the Castelfranco Veneto team responds in the fourth attack by scoring three points, led by the hits of De Jonge, Gregnanin and Soma and also helped by the inaccuracies of the opposing defense. Sheldon, Rossini And Caldon with three singles they bring home four points and re-establish the distance. The Thunders, however, don’t give up and try to get closer again: a single from De Jonge and a triple from Leg carry the score 10-7 in favor of Caronno, without however closing the gap and the match thus ends with the home team’s success.

Caronno completes the double in a game 2 that seemed, until the final stages, to be the Thunders’ prerogative. The all-Cuban duel on the pitching platform between Iraimis Diaz (Rheavendors) e Lixiana Melendez (Thunders) sees much less control than the pitching duel in Game 1 and there will be 15 bases on balls overall. In the third inning, the Thunders move forward and score twice with RBIs from Soma (double) and Cottage (single). He shortens Caronno in the fourth round with the single of Salvioni, but the Venetians re-established the two-point gap with Casetta’s second hit of the match in the fifth inning. The finish line seems increasingly closer for the Thunders, but in Caronno’s sixth attack the match is reversed: four bases on balls allow Rhea to shorten and keep the bases loaded, at that point Chiara Ambrosi hits a single to left that allows the pass on 4-3. It’s not enough to put the leadoff of the seventh quarter on base for the Thunders, who fail to materialize and Caronno completes the double.
