London – Sad news for the English royal family after the death of Paolo Liuzzo, ex-boyfriend of Princess Beatrice of York, was announced. According to what has been reported so far, the 43-year-old was found dead in a Miami hotel room and, according to initial rumours, the death was caused by an overdose. Everything, in any case, is still to be clarified.

Liuzzo became a well-known figure for his relationship with Beatrice of York, eldest daughter of the Duke of York Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, as well as the fifth granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Philip of Edinburgh. The two began dating way back in 2005, when the princess was only 17 years old and Liuzzo, 6 years older, was 23. The couple became official a year later, when Liuzzo joined his girlfriend’s family during the holidays spent in Switzerland.

The two then broke up also due to Paolo Liuzzo’s problems. In September 2019 the Royal Palace announced the engagement of Beatrice of York with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The wedding took place on 17 July 2020 in the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. The couple welcomed a baby girl on May 19, 2021, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli-Mozzi. However, the news of the 43-year-old’s death shocked the princess who, according to a source close to her, was heartbroken.

Who was Paolo Liuzzo
According to what was reported by The Sun, which is following the story, Liuzzo has fought against drugs for years. In addition, the man would also have incurred several gambling debts. To reporters, Michael Vega, an officer of the Miami police department, indicated that death by overdose was a possible lead. It would therefore have been excessive drug consumption that killed the 43-year-old, who lived in a condominium near the hotel where he was found dead on February 7th. “Paolo wasn’t very well. He loved to party and gamble. He started using a lot of drugs, and this led him to abuse cocaine and harder drugs. Everyone feared that sooner or later this would happen”, is what was reported by a friend, as reported by Il Messaggero.

There are many shadows in the life of Paolo Liuzzo. At the age of 24 he was investigated for murder following a street fight that led to the death of student Jonathan R. Duchatellier. The incident occurred in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The charges were later dismissed, and Liuzzo pleaded guilty to assault and battery.
