Polliotto (UNC): “2024, growing annual expenditure on gas bills”

This was announced by the President of the Piedmont Regional Committee of the National Consumers Union.

Spending on gas bills is growing by around 1.1%. This was made known by Patrizia Polliotto, Lawyer, Founder and President of the Piedmont Regional Committee of the National Consumers Union, the first, oldest and most authoritative Italian consumer association since 1955. “All things considered, the negative but expected figure is equivalent to an increase in prices equal to 12.50 euros per year, and this by virtue of what was established by Arera, i.e. that on 1 March 2024, for the month of March, the bill of gas rises by 1.1% in the new Vulnerability Protection Service, for a typical user who consumes 1100 cubic meters of gas per year”.

For the lawyer Patrizia Polliotto it is about “A speculation, given that, despite the fact that we have now reached the end of the thermal season, storage facilities in Europe are still full. The regret is that the increase of 12.50 euros on an annual basis, however low, could have turned into a saving of 127 euros if the system charges and the old VAT rates had not been remitted at the beginning of the year”. According to the study by the National Consumers Union also reported by Unc Piemonte, for the new typical user who consumes 1100 cubic meters of gas, +1.1% means spending 12.50 euros more on an annual basis. The total expenditure in the next twelve months thus rises to 1117 euros.
