The iconic blades of the Moulin Rouge, the famous cabaret in Paris, fell during the night, according to reports from the fire brigade, who confirmed the news first reported by the broadcaster Bfmtv. No injuries were reported and according to the authorities there is no longer any risk of collapse. The reasons for the incident are currently unknown.

“This is the first time that an accident of this kind has occurred since its creation on October 6, 1889,” said the Moulin Rouge administration, which has “no information” about the cause of this accident. “It happened after the closure fortunately,” he said, specifying that “every week the technical management of the cabaret checks the mechanism of the mill’s wings and has not found any problems.”

The only serious accident that occurred in the Cancan Temple was a construction fire in 1915 which forced the Moulin Rouge to close for 9 years. The famous venue located at the foot of Montmartre hill, synonymous with Parisian nights and in front of which thousands of visitors take photos every day, will celebrate its 135th anniversary on 6 October. The Moulin Rouge is open every day and presents two shows every evening, welcoming 850 visitors, or 600 thousand a year.
