VAST. The “R. Mattioli” high school club from Vasto, with coach Irene Bianchi, is the winning team of the 2nd edition of the Historical Debate Tournament on the French Revolution, entitled “Regenerating Memory”, which took place this morning at the “G. d’ University”. Annunzio” of Pescara and organized by the Hubruzzo Foundation in collaboration with Rati and Società Debate Italia.
“The initiative of the historical debate tournament, now in its second edition, is a cultural operation that we consider crucial”, said Matteo Giangrande, RATI member and director of the Società Nazionale Debate Italia.
This experience allows students to investigate and reflect on controversial issues by analyzing them in their historical context. This is the best way to accustom the mind to master the complexity of human processes and dynamics to find the best reasons for deliberating and taking a position in them. This event is just a further piece of the educational program of the Hubruzzo Foundation, which this year has already promoted an Academy for debate in English, widespread debate training in various schools in the region and which will conclude with a debate tournament for middle and high schools, in Italian and English, which will take place in Pescara at the end of May”.
This year’s edition of the tournament is dedicated to the memory of the Hon. Giovanni Di Fonzo, whose innovative spirit and civil mission continues to inspire multiple innovative activities in Abruzzo schools.
Aimed at high school students from all provinces, the tournament promises to be a crossroads of ideas and reflections on the French Revolution, with particular attention to the relationship between citizenship and religious affiliation. (ANSA SOURCE).
