From Rieti to Rome Termini in less than two hours and without any changes. The “direttissimo” train n°4256 will come to life on May 6th, departing at 6:12 am and arriving at Roma Termini at 8 o’clock.
The initiative was greeted with extreme enthusiasm by Rieti commuters who will not only be able to arrive in Rome with a single train in less than two hours, without obligatory changes in Terni, but will also be able to reach Termini station instead of just Tiburtina.
The initiative was born due to the works that will affect the Foligno-Terni line, which will be closed for works from 6 May to 7 June. With the cancellation of the Foligno-Rome Termini direct line, the Italian Railway Network (RFI) has made available the railway track necessary for the establishment of the Rieti direct line.
The Rieti-Rome Termini fast train will be active, precisely, from 6 May to 7 June without a direct return train Rome Termini-Rieti, but the Rieti commuters are already in turmoil, as we read on the Facebook page of the commuters committee.
Local politics works to ensure that this service becomes permanent.
