(PressMoliLaz) Alatri (FR), 24 Apr 24 A meeting was held in the Municipality of Alatri, organized by the mayor Maurizio Cianfrocca, with the mayors of the northern area of the province of Frosinone (Acuto, Ferentino, Fiuggi, Torre Cajetani, Collepardo, Trivigliano, Fumone, Filettino, Guarcino, Sgurgola) and the president of the VII Commission on Health, Social Policies, Social and Health Integration and Welfare of the Lazio Region, Alessia Savo.
A very fruitful discussion, with a collaborative and participatory climate, which addressed various health issues. The subject of the meeting, in fact, was not only the future of the ‘San Benedetto’ hospital in Alatri, in light of the new hospital network launched last December by the Rocca Government, but also the action of the Lazio Region in terms of strengthening the structures and the creation of that local medicine that concretely responds to the needs of the population.
“Regarding the new hospital network 2024-2026 – explained the president Alessia Savoin over two hours of intense conversation with the mayors – provides for the ‘San Benedetto’ hospital in Alatri an increase of 38 beds compared to those envisaged by the previous 2021-2023 hospital network and three new departments: Orthopaedics, Geriatrics and Urology. The Alatri hospital will not only undergo any weakening but, on the contrary, the healthcare offer will be defined and tailored to the specific needs of users, responding to the needs of the population. We must not raise unjustified alarms, fear closures that were never risked and discredit a structure which, on the contrary, we are defending, specializing and strengthening. We must not generate unfounded fears and concerns which have the sole and harmful consequence of making our territory unattractive and describing a healthcare reality that is absolutely not the one we are building and rebuilding after years of inattention and financial disasters. Instead, I thank the mayors who asked questions, requested clarifications, proposed small but important projects and listened to the guidelines contained in the new 2024-2026 hospital network: collaborative and synergistic action between institutions, administrators and territories is always the winning strategy . Lazio’s healthcare has reversed course, is changing, growing and overcoming the Roman-centric management that has characterized it for too many years. We know that we serve the interests of all the territories on a daily basis and the province of Frosinone is no exception.”
For his part, the mayor of Alatri, Maurizio Cianfroccacoordinating the meeting with fellow administrators, he highlighted: “I warmly thank President Alessia Savo for accepting the invitation and I thank all the mayors present who have shown sensitivity to this very delicate topic. I am confident, because the act of the new regional hospital network provides for an expansion of the San Benedetto hospital, both in terms of number of beds and in terms of the Orthopaedics, Geriatrics and Urology departments. Now, let’s hope that all this will be put into practice in the shortest possible time, and in any case in the necessary time and, why not, we also hope for an strengthening of the Emergency Department. All this will certainly be important and will ensure that San Benedetto becomes a point of reference again for the municipalities of the northern area of the province, serving all citizens”.
