Chieuti: on the day of the race, last April 22nd, Senator Annamaria Fallucchi visited the Chieutina community to learn more and discover the beauty and uniqueness of this tradition, one of a kind. In the morning, when she arrived in the town, she was welcomed by Costantina Tavani and other people and met for a few minutes with the Mayor of Chieuti Diego Iacono, the four wagons, the Parish Priest Don Antonio Di Domenico, the former Parish Priest Antonio Soccio, Mario Di Giorgio, The security manager who illustrated the enormous organizational work carried out and showed him the mobile control room specially organized for the event. She then traveled along the entire route to understand how it was organised.

Then in the village he wandered far and wide through the streets and the main square, greeting and meeting people to listen to the stories, the stories to identify himself more and more with the Chieutina tradition.

This visit becomes very important for the communities of the “Carresi”, because in just over a month the decree law that allows us to use equids outside of designated places will expire and we will necessarily have to wait for a law that protects and recognizes our tradition and the right to celebrate it by organizing it in the best possible way.

The senator was enthusiastic: “I am very happy to have come to this community on this very important day. A people who have a unique and beautiful history and tradition to defend and protect and which must be told well, because it cannot remain between the four towers of the town. This tradition, the feast of San Giorgio, is indisputably part of the “genetic heritage” of history and tradition of the Alto Tavoliere, where the territories are custodians and promoters of memories, to be transferred from generation to generation. In Parliament we are working to support and promote these treasures that make many small Italian municipalities unique. A law will have to be made and after the decree I will propose a service conference and bring the promotion of this event to the Senate.”

For her part, Costantina Tavani: “We are waiting to be valued and protected and I am sure that the Government is on our side, on the side of traditions, of caring for history, of us small, large communities.

I thank and embrace the whole community who welcomed Annamaria yesterday, I was certain that no one could resist the charm of our colours, the beauty of our roots, all the wonder of our little precious treasure chest, our tradition and devotion to San Giorgio”.

A beautiful day that ended with many good intentions, a good step forward, hoping for a rosy future for the party.
