In Valle dell’Angelo, on the slopes of Mount Cervati, the second edition of “Tarantà”, the Italian-Argentine ethnic music festival, dedicated to the people of Valle dell’Angelo who emigrated to Argentina, will begin tomorrow.
Tango and tarantella
The smallest municipality in Campania from tomorrow to April 28th will be transformed into the capital of tango and tarantella. Two different musical genres that will “merge” into a single melody in the Valle dell’Angelo square, transformed for the occasion into a large natural stage. The actor and television presenter will be the testimonial of the festival Beppe Convertini.
The ancient flavors fair will be the backdrop to the event: local farms will offer guests typical dishes of the Cilento tradition, such as parmarieddi and casalettara meat.
But there will also be cultural moments with the presentation of books, photographic exhibitions and excursions.
The statements
“Our Municipality is strongly linked to Argentina – explains Salvatore Iannuzzimayor of Valle dell’Angelo – because in that distant land live several thousand people from Vallangeolo who emigrated in the mid-20th century. Through this festival it was decided to merge the cultures of these two worlds in a harmonious union that we called “Tarantà”, in homage to the two popular dances: the Cilento tarantella and the Argentine tango”.
The event will start tomorrow morning with the arrival in the country of an Argentine institutional delegation which will also participate in the drafting of new projects “that they will see – adds Iannuzzi – at scheduled intervals, the presence of Italian Vallangiolesi and Argentine Vallangiolesi relive the history of a single people separated from the poverty of the last century”. And it is no coincidence that a few years ago the “House of the Vallangiolesi in the world” was inaugurated in the small Cilento town, a real hostel always open to host the Vallangiolesi returning to the town.
