Last March the BBC had praised the athletic qualities of Kylian Mbappe publishing data according to which the Frenchman is capable of running the 100 meters in 10.9 seconds, arousing much criticism both because the time is certainly not the most exciting in the world (he would have ended up at the foot of the podium in the last Olympic final at female), and because the competition conditions are not comparable.
During the ‘Laureus Awards 2024’, however, the holder of the world record for the 100m dash (9”58 Ed.), as well as an eight-time gold medalist at the Olympic Games, returned to the issue. Usain Bolt who revealed that he would have liked to challenge the French champion and inviting him to try this athletics specialty: “I would have liked to compete with Mbappé when I was at my best to see how close he would have been to me. -explains Bolt – I hope one day he tries to run the 100 meters so I can see his time”.
