“The rights of many Rimini consumers have also been violated”

The Antitrust has started an investigation against Enel Energia to ascertain any incorrect commercial practices regarding the methods of communicating renewals. Enel responded with a note highlighting its correctness.

Federconsumatori Rimini is on a war footing: the accusations against Enel Energia are that of having implemented “unfair and aggressive commercial practices”.

“Over 600 complaints have been received by the Authority – writes Graziano Urbinati, president of Federconsumatori Rimini, quoting what was written by the authority – complaining about how the company issued, during the billing cycles relating to the four-month period October 2023 – January 2024, bills containing a significant increase in the price of gas and electricity supplies compared to the bills referring to the same time period in the previous year ”. Even in Rimini, dozens of users turned to the Federconsumatori counters.

“Define them as increases – attacks Urbinati – it’s almost an understatement. But there is more: the numerous citizens who have turned to our offices often declare that they have not received any prior information, in written form, from the company. This serious lack of information, in addition to violating the most basic rights of consumers, has effectively prevented them from being able to exercise the right of withdrawal by choosing a supplier with more advantageous conditions and rates”.

“A concrete and huge damage, which involved many citizens, for which we now believe it is our duty that society pays the consequences“, adds Urbinati.

Federconsumatori will appear with its representatives in the proceedings of the authority which, Urbinati notes, “also on this occasion it intervened promptly to protect citizens from the excessive power of companies, which with the abolition of the protected market gave free rein to all their fantasies and speculative ambitions”.

“Federconsumatori, in addition to continuing to assist the citizens involved, contesting the astronomical sums charged, will continue its activity of denouncing companies that charge tariffs that are completely outside the market, showing the negative and harmful side of a complete uncontrolled liberalization which, until today, in many cases it has only brought about price increases and abuse“, comments Urbinati.
