Once again great emotions at the Ragusa Cathedral. The same ones that repeat themselves every time you have the chance to attend a religious function in honor of the holy knight. This was the case last night for the solemn Eucharistic concelebration presided over by the bishop of the diocese of Ragusa, Msgr. Giuseppe La Placa, on the day of the liturgical feast dedicated to San Giorgio. In the presence of the civil and military authorities, with the guards of honor of the carabinieri, police, financial police and local police, there could not have been a better way to celebrate the glorious patron saint of Ragusa. “An uncommon attention – said the prelate – which testifies to the great devotion towards the holy knight whose virtues we are all invited to imitate. Yes, the virtues of that same Saint George who, through Christ, was able to defeat the dragon of evil. Let us look at Saint George, a model from which every Christian must be able to draw inspiration, remembering that the holy martyr was inspired, in turn, by the resurrected crucified Christ. In San Giorgio, the strength of Easter has transformed into a predominant element for making good win.”

The Cathedral, once again, has gathered within it the devotees and faithful who identify in the megalomartyr an important point of reference in their spiritual life. Present were, among others, the prefect of Ragusa, Giuseppe Ranieri, the extraordinary commissioner of the Free Consortium, Patrizia Valenti, the mayor Peppe Cassì, the president of the municipal council, Fabrizio Ilardo, the heads of the police, carabinieri, financial police and local police. There were also numerous councilors from the municipal council and some city councilors. Also concelebrating was the parish priest of the cathedral, the priest Pietro Floridia, together with other priests. Meanwhile, we are now preparing for the external celebrations of San Giorgio in Ragusa which will be held on 24, 25 and 26 May. “Last night too – says the parish priest of the Cathedral, Don Pietro Floridia – we took note of yet another proof of devotion that this city has towards the holy knight. An emblematic figure regarding the victory of good over evil and who, even today, embodying an uncommon vitality and effervescence, is surprisingly relevant today”.
