Arrested for running over a minor in September 2023 in Latina: the man was questioned by the judge for preliminary investigations
The judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Latina, Giulia Paolini, listened, as part of the guarantee interrogation, to Francesco Fanti, 48 years old, from Latina, arrested by the Traffic Police for having run over a 17-year-old boy in September 2023 . Defended by the lawyer Coronella, Fanti availed himself of the right not to respond.
The agents of the Latina Traffic Police Section had proceeded with the execution of a precautionary custody order “under house arrest” against him since, in the summer of 2023, after having driven a vehicle, in a state of psychophysical alteration after taking narcotic substances, with a revoked driving license and with the vehicle uninsured, he had caused a serious road accident in the center of Latina, seriously injuring a person.
The infrequent provision in the case of this type of crime was dictated by the extreme dangerousness of the behavior of the arrested person, who was already a repeat offender for the same conduct and, moreover – although this did not count for the purposes of the precautionary measure – involved in several incidents in the past judicial, even of a certain weight, and in the company of exponents of the Pontine crime such as, for example, Francesco Viola.
The arrest – underlined in a note by the Latina Police Headquarters – constitutes a strong signal towards those who drive in such conditions which are the cause of many road accidents, often with serious outcomes.
The events, which occurred on September 1, 2023, involved the 48-year-old driving his Fiat 600, which was not found to be his property and was also without insurance. The man driving the car violently hit a scooter at the intersection between Via Isonzo and Via Priverno. The minor boy (17 years old) who was driving the scooter was injured and was immediately rescued by 118 and transferred to hospital with fractures and in code red.
The dynamics saw the car come from the center and travel along Via Isonzo; in the opposite direction, still on Via Isonzo, the 17-year-old was traveling on his scooter. They both turned to take Via Priverno and there the very violent impact occurred which caused the minor to be thrown onto the asphalt.
After the accident, Fanti tested positive for several narcotic substances: a real mix of drugs which caused him to be punished a few days ago by the Traffic Police.
