“The politics of concrete things has been rewarded. Citizens are tired of listening to words, they want to see facts, and when they see them they reward them. Sharing programs with the broader field can yield new results, implementing the initiatives and processes that have already been started. The real challenge is to continue on this path.” Vito Bardi, reconfirmed president of the Basilicata Region in the elections of 21 and 22 April 2024, said this in a meeting with journalists which took place today in Potenza.
“It was not a simple and very intense electoral campaign – added Bardi -, I am satisfied with the warmth with which I was welcomed and for the candidates, very attentive and present, who had a constructive dialogue with the territory. The opposition paid the price for the difficulties in choosing the candidate, which also weakened them from an image point of view. But when you win with a gap like this it means that people have faith and want to continue working with those who have given answers to the territory. There are prerequisites for continuing on the path of change, which requires time and attention.”
As for the expansion of the centre-right coalition to Action and IV, Bardi reiterated that “these are agreements made at a national level and then at a local level. The fact of having managed to broaden the coalition is a positive result for Basilicata, based on the sharing of programs: the broad field is made because the programs are shared. The two common initiatives that we discussed with Action concern the need to share choices and initiatives for better healthcare, and the other point is that of infrastructure. I believe that with everyone’s skills, we can do the best.”
Regarding the formation of the new regional government, Bardi finally announced that he will have a discussion with all the protagonists of the victory and then will make his assessments on the Council.
