“Away from any obvious ritual, this 25th April is a direct call to the commitment of all consciences, in the awareness that the game at stake is the very maintenance of democratic viability and the principles of the Anti-Fascist Constitution born from the Resistance”. This is what they say from the ‘A Gauche’ association.
“Every day – they still comment from the association – we witness a deeper rift, with egregious and unscrupulous actions which come as a corollary of a government team that makes no secret of its own “matrix”: from the mess of TV censorship to the writer Scurati; to the complaint against one of the greatest contemporary historians, Professor Canfora; to the systematic beatings of students demonstrating for Peace; to the attempted sabotage of law 194 which made us ridiculous in front of Europe. Exhausted, between ministers involved in the most squalid judicial affairs and the glaring inability to govern the country, they raise the bar: with the double objective of shifting attention, on the one hand, and the convinced vindication of what they actually are, that is, the worthy heirs of the darkest part of history, on the other. It is to this that we as Anti-fascists are called to respond, because it is no longer a game (if anyone ever believed it was) but a dangerous reality made even more serious by the climate of total war which unfortunately is affecting the planet and which has need for concrete and responsible answers, not the pathetic crushing in the role of obedient spectators of the bloody division of the world. May April 25th represent the first of the events of a new, large and permanent anti-fascist mobilization and may our Resistance fathers, who once already freed us from Nazi and fascist oppression, enlighten us. And let’s make them hear the Anti-fascist voices, loud, strong, clear: LONG LIVE APRIL 25th! LONG LIVE THE RESISTANCE!”.
