Vito Bardi is the new governor of Basilicata

In Basilicata Vito Bardi (centre-right) was confirmed governor with 56.63% of the votes. Piero Marrese of the centre-left obtained 42.16% of the votes. Fratelli d’Italia is the most voted party, with 17.39%. The composition of the new Regional Council of Basilicata sees 12 seats for the centre-right majority and 8 for the centre-left. Three women were elected.

Basilicata: final results, Bardi wins with 56.6%

The centre-right candidate Vito Bardi was confirmed governor of Basilicata with 56.63% of the votes, according to the final results of the regional elections. Piero Marrese of the centre-left obtained 42.16% of the votes. The third candidate Eustachio Follia received 1.21%. Fratelli d’Italia is the most voted party, with 17.39%. The Democratic Party follows with 13.87%. In the centre-right coalition Forza Italia obtained 13.01% of the votes, while the League stopped at 7.81% of the votes followed by Action with 7.51%. In the centre-left, the 5 Star Movement obtained 7.66%, behind Basilicata Casa Comune (11.18%).

Basilicata: here is the new regional council

Twelve seats for the centre-right majority in support of the outgoing and reconfirmed governor Vito Bardi (Forza Italia) and eight for the centre-left: This is the composition of the new Regional Council of Basilicata. The following were elected by the majority: Carmine Cicala, Maddalena Fazzari, Cosimo Latronico and Michele Napoli (Brothers of Italy); Gianuario Aliandro, Michele Casino and Francesco Cupparo (Forza Italia); Pasquale Pepe and Domenico Raffaele Tataranno (Lega); Nicola Massimo Morea and Marcello Pittella (Action); Mario Polese (exponent of Italia Viva, on the list with the civic Orgoglio Lucano). For the minority the following were elected: the centre-left gubernatorial candidate Piero Marrese (Pd); Roberto Cifarelli and Piero Lacorazza (Pd); Angelo Chiorazzo and Giovanni Vizziello (Basilicata Casa Comune); Alessia Araneo and Viviana Verri (Five Star Movement); Antonio Bochicchio (Avs-Si-Psi-Basilicata Possibile).

Basilicata: three out of 20 women elected to the Regional Council

Three out of 20 women (two from the Five Star Movement and one from Fratelli d’Italia) are elected to the Basilicata Regional Council, where voting took place on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd April. In particular, the Five Star Movement elected only women: for the province of Potenza, Alessia Araneo, and for that of Matera, Viviana Verri. Brothers of Italy (a total of four councilors) has elected Maddalena Fazzari in the province of Potenza. All three will sit in the Lucanian Regional Council for the first time.

Of the five outgoing councillors, who made up the last centre-right council led by Vito Bardi (Forza Italia), Cosimo Latronico (FdI) and Michele Casino (Forza Italia) were elected. However, the outgoing vice-president Francesco Fanelli (Lega), Alessandro Galella (Fdi) and Gerardina Sileo (Lega) did not make it. Of the 18 outgoing councilors who ran (14 with the centre-right), six were re-elected, four with the majority that supported the outgoing governor Vito Bardi and two with the centre-right: Carmine Cicala (Brothers of Italy), Marcello Pittella (Action), Mario Polese (exponent of Italia Viva, on the list with the civic Orgoglio Lucano), Gianuario Aliandro (Forza Italia), Roberto Cifarelli (Pd) and Giovanni Vizziello (Basilicata Casa Comune).

The other nine regional councilors elected are: Michele Napoli (FdI), Francesco Cupparo (FI), Nicola Massimo Morea (Action), Pasquale Pepe and Domenico Raffaele Tataranno (Lega), Angelo Chiorazzo (Basilicata Casa Comune), Piero Lacorazza (Pd), Antonio Bochicchio (Avs-Si- Psi-Basilicata possible) and the center-left gubernatorial candidate Piero Marrese (Pd). None of the five candidates deemed “unpresentable” by the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission were elected.
