«The digital well-being of children and teenagers»: meeting in Ponteranica

Digital technology is increasingly present in our lives, especially in those of children and teenagers, who often seem to be born with a smartphone in their hands. Of course, they are indispensable tools for communication and learning, they offer opportunities for participation, but frequenting online environments also exposes one to risks relating to harmful or, at least, age-inappropriate content. They are precious tools, but they must be at our service and not the other way around.

It is essential to stop, therefore, to open a space for reflection that helps in the adequate management of new technologies, to consciously integrate them into the lives of our children. Following these objectives, the Parents’ Committee of the «A. Lanfranchi” of Ponteranica-Sorisole, as part of the “Waiting for the smartphone” project, promotes a meeting entitled “The digital well-being of children and young people”. The objective is to increase awareness of the risks linked to the uncontrolled use of smartphones, to delve deeper into the operation of social networks and the consequences that all this can have in the relational dynamics between adolescents, to promote correct use of technologies.

The appointment is for Tuesday 23 April, at 8.30 pm, in the council room of the Town Hall, in Piazza Asperti in Ponteranica. «A fundamental meeting, aimed at educators, grandparents, parents with children of nursery school, primary school and middle school age – underlines Davide Motta, vice president of the Parents Committee of the IC “A. Lanfranchi” -. An opportunity for comparison and in-depth analysis on the effects of excessive and unregulated use of smartphones and digital devices in general at an early age, also in light of recent scientific research.” Participants in the meeting are Simona Colpani, pedagogist, psychomotricist and trainer; Marco Gui, Director of the Digital Wellbeing Center and Associate Professor for the Bicocca University of Milan; and Carlo Stracquadaneo, promoter of the Bergamo Community Digital Pact. Registration is compulsory and free, subject to availability (120). For information: [email protected].
