While the jury was being chosen in the courtroom that will have to give its verdict on the case in which the former US president is accused of having falsified his company’s documents to hide, in 2016, a payment of 130 thousand dollars to the former porn star Stormy Daniels, the 37-year-old he was doused with flammable liquid and, wearing only jeans and a t-shirt, he set himself on fire. The man burned for over three minutes, before fire extinguishers managed to smother the fire around 1.30pm local time. Before setting himself on fire, Azzarello walked around a cordoned off area that had been reserved for Trump fans, holding up a sign and handing out flyers with messages supporting various conspiracy theories.

Who was Maxwell Azzarello

“Trump is with Biden and they are organizing a fascist coup” read the sign that the man held up. Rhetoric also repeated in the leaflets distributed to passers-by. In the hours before the arsonist act, the 37-year-old from St. Augustine in Florida had published some previews of the act on social media. «Start a fucking revolution, you’ve got nothing to lose», he sang in the car, probably headed to New York. In a story published on Instagram you could see the words “I love you” repeated twelve times while in a post the man had published a couple of pages of the manifesto contained in the flyers. Inside, Azzarello, who has no criminal record in New York State, called himself an “investigative researcher” and warned his readers of a “deception.” “You will discover that your life is a deception,” Azzarello wrote, calling for action before apologizing to friends and family for the pain he was about to cause them. The manifesto also states that according to Azzarello the cryptocurrency system would be nothing more than a Ponzi scheme and that many of the nefarious events that have occurred in the world in the last decade – among all Covid – were organized to scare and control the population
