Accident at work in Cusago, 23-year-old worker dies crushed in a compactor

A 23-year-old worker died last night in an industrial accident that occurred in Cusago, in the Milan area. The young man, of Egyptian origin, employed in a waste processing company, was crushed in a compactor for reasons yet to be ascertained. The 118 rescue efforts were useless. The Milan firefighters intervened to free the mangled body.

What happened

The fatal accident occurred at 11.30pm in the Convertini srl company, a special waste storage and treatment company which operates material selection and recycling activities, and which is located in Corso Europa 72 in Cusago (Milan). According to the initial information, reported by the Fire Brigade of Milan and Corbetta (Milan) who intervened on the spot «the 23-year-old was working on the edge of the compactor when, for reasons still to be fully clarified, he was sucked into the suction mouth of the waste crushing machine» . The Carabinieri of the Corsico company and the ATS also arrived at the company.
