Fatal accident between Gioia del Colle and Putignano – GioiaLive.it

This morning, along Provincial Road 106 which connects Gioia del Colle and Putignano, a tragic collision occurred which caused the loss of life of Marco Dimita, a 48 year old resident of Santeramo. The accident occurred near Gioia del Colle, a few kilometers from the city.

Dimita was aboard a Fiat Punto, which collided head-on with a Discovery Land Rover, ending its run against the guardrail. 118 personnel, the Carabinieri and the Fire Brigade immediately intervened on site to rescue the victims and manage the situation.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the rescuers, Marco Dimita lost his life due to the serious injuries sustained in the accident. The man was heading to work in a quarry located in Castellana Grotte, a destination that should have taken him through a normal day of work.

The driver of the other car involved in the accident suffered bruises, but fortunately his life was not in danger.

The entire local community is shocked and saddened by this tragic loss and rallies around Marco Dimita’s family in this moment of profound pain. The competent authorities are conducting the necessary investigations to understand the precise causes of the accident and to ensure justice and safety on the roads in the area.
