The Resistances of yesterday and today for Liberation Day – The Guide

In the days preceding April 25th, various events are scheduled, including meetings, shows, concerts, trips and exhibitions, to celebrate Liberation Day and remember and share the values ​​of the Resistance in the places of the gold medal city. The calendar of “Resistance” events, with free entry, opens Saturday 20 April with the Biciclettata Resistenza, bike tours in Cuneo to significant places of the Resistance, told by Gigi Garelli, director of the Historical Institute of the Resistance, in collaboration with Fiab Cuneo Bicingiro. Meeting at 2pm in Piazza Galimberti.
At 5pm in via Silvio Pellico, an urban performance, with dancing, rap and readings on the Resistances of yesterday and today, from here and elsewhere. Guests Warrior posse x Cuneodancers, Pepenocciola, Afshin Khas, Ismael, Naiky and Westdome, in collaboration with Arci Cuneo-Asti.
At 6pm, at the historical institute of the Resistance and Contemporary Society, presentation of the book “The Resistance of the very young”, edited by Ernesto Billò. In collaboration with the partisan association “Ignazio Vian” – Don Aldo Benevelli cultural center.
Tuesday 23 Aprilat 9.30, in the San Giovanni room, the “Remembering Nuto” competition ends, promoted by Mai Tardi, friends of Nuto and the Nuto Revelli Foundation with the awarding of the winning classes and high school students.
Wednesday 24 April, from 3pm to 5pm, at the ITC Bonelli, in Viale degli Angeli, it will be possible to visit the exhibition “Remember not to forget. Nuto Revelli, a life in images” with guided tours open to all.
In the evening Torchlight Procession of Freedom, meeting at 8.30pm at the monument to the Resistance, the official speech by the journalist and historian Claudio Vercelli. The court will be accompanied by the Duccio Galimberti musical band and will cross Corso Dante and Corso Nizza, to reach Piazza Galimberti. At 9.30pm, in Piazza Virginio, after the reading of Resistance testimonies from yesterday and today, concert by Mahout with Bunna.
Thursday 25 April, starting from 9.15 and throughout the morning, institutional ceremonies to commemorate the fallen, at 10.30 the ceremony at the urban cemetery with the religious celebration at the Partisans mausoleum, with homage and laying of wreaths and reading of Gino Giordanengo’s poetry. This will be followed by tributes and the laying of wreaths at the tomb of Mayor Ettore Rosa, the memorial and the fallen military ossuary. A free shuttle will be available for the institutional commemoration ceremony. Meeting at 9.30 at the Resistenza park, “Resistere, pedalare, resist”, a bike trip to Ceretto organized by Fiab Cuneo Bicingiro, will start. Information: www.bicingirocuneo.com.
