Three hidden beaches with crystal clear sea in Liguria. Where to go even during the day to relax and be at peace

For the people of Milan, Turin and a large part of northern Italy, Liguria is “the nearby sea”, the one that can be reached in a couple of hours where you can spend the weekend or even just a beautiful sunny day. The charm of Liguria touches all the senses, first of all it is a visual ecstasy that generously satisfies: the foaming waves of the Riviera, the poignant bays, the perched villages of the hinterland; they are brushstrokes of color and salt imprinted between the blue sea and verses of poets who loved it. But Liguria is also an olfactory discovery: aromas of basil, rosemary, thyme, bay leaves, citrus fruits, olives. And of course flavours, such as the Genoese focaccia, farinata, the pesto of the trofie and the walnut sauce of the pansotti, the fish in soup of the buridda, and even the marinades, sauces and fritters.

Secret coves and wild beaches in Liguria

Small flaw: precisely because of all these wonderful landscape and cultural nuances it is under attack. Especially on weekends and long weekends in spring when the desire to escape the monotony of the city and look out onto a patch of blue is irresistible. For this reason, finding a slightly wild and not too well-known cove, where you can stay in peace, becomes the indispensable asset. Those who have frequented Liguria for many years know that it is not impossible, indeed precisely because of its morphology, made up of inlets and flat rocks, finding semi-private spaces and little-traveled streets overlooking the water is possible. There are many Milanese people who have their own favorite rock, which is indispensable, where they can read a book or do a puzzle week, in some cove on the Riviera di Ponente or in the Riviera di Levante. We have decided to highlight three of them. Bays, beautiful and wild beaches with the rugged and frank charm typical of this land.

Punta Corvo, Montemarcello (Spezia),

If you don’t know her you will find yourself in front of a wonderful show. The beach of Punta Corvo in the hamlet of Montemarcello, in the municipality of Ameglia, is surrounded by the typical vegetation of the Mediterranean machine and surrounded by enormous cliffs, the characteristic dark rock of Liguria. Punta Corvo, the beach of Cró, in local dialect, was born from the continuous erosion of the Ligurian Sea on the limestone coast, in front you can see the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. It has been awarded by Legambiente as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Italy but it is not easily accessible and perhaps this is its fortune, being between the hills and the sea only a few decide to venture into the vegetation of Aleppo pines.

How to get

To reach it you have to walk for about half an hour along the long staircase that starts from Montemarcello (then going back up is always difficult), or by boat leaving from Bocca di Magra and Fiumaretta. It is an intimate beach, made of small pebbles, not equipped, and offers the best sea in the area: it changes from blue-green to blue, depending on the time of day.
