Romanò and Gironi among the students

They were Yuri Romanò And Fabrizio Gironi the protagonists of the meeting on Friday 19 April of the school project, which includes – cyclically – a visit to schools by some of the champions of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza.

At the Sant’Agostino private school in Salsomaggiore (surrounded by around 150 first and eighth grade students, as well as from the Human Sciences and Scientific High Schools) the two opposite sides of the red and white team were “overwhelmed” by a barrage of questions, many of which related to study: Gironi, a few weeks ago, graduated in Sports Sciences, while Romanò is attending the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Catholic University of Piacenza.

“My parents – explained Romanò – have always followed me and come to watch my matches. They also came to the club when I was busy with the national team. I’ve been a dad for a few weeks and now that Bianca is here, I sleep a little less at night. I’m having the happiest time of my life and even though I may arrive at the gym a little tired, I’m really happy. The emotion I felt when Bianca was born was greater than when I lifted the Cup at the World Cup: at Bianca’s birth I cried for two hours, and for five minutes when I lifted the Cup.”

“I have had many coaches and I have learned something from all of them” Gironi told the students. Of all of them, the one I will never forget was my first youth coach in Segrate. Graduating was tiring, sport takes up a lot of time, but with willpower you can get anywhere. My dream is that of many athletes: to play in the Olympics. I played football for nine years and then moved on to volleyball, let’s say that volleyball wasn’t my first love. I’ve had a great time in Piacenza these two years, but I won’t be there next year: it’s our job that leads us to change cities and teams but never say never to a return.”

The meeting was opened by principal Elena Romani, who in welcoming Romanò and Gironi underlined the importance of sport for “the social life of each of us” and underlined that “sport and study give a lot of satisfaction”.

Vittorino Francani, responsible for the Gas Sales school project, urged those present “to believe in their values and ideals as well as combine sport and study because the two things can very well coexist”.
