Volleyball, Gas Sales Bluenergy and sustainability: “Commitment on and off the pitch”

Is called E-CO2 Free Energyand it is the initiative that the Gas Sales Blueenergy has chosen to continue on its path of environmental sustainability.
The project, active both in the first team and in the youth sector, began in 2018 and led the company to offset all CO2 emissions associated with the groups’ activities in 2019. Furthermore, since 2023, the initiative has chosen to rely on the technical support of AzzeroCO2, a sustainability and energy consultancy company founded by Legambiente and Kyoto Club.

Being a sustainable organization has always been a fundamental objective for us. Our arena supplied by Gas Sales, our main sponsor, is powered only with CO2-free energy, the use of plastic is almost zero, our cars are electric, and we try to reduce travel consumption for both the first team and the youth sector. The goal has also been reached for the 2022-2023 season and we are now working for the current season.”

Focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the company has in fact adopted effective measures such as the use of electric cars, installation of electric charging stations and the introduction of stainless steel water bottles refillable from the Bluebox dispensers located inside the arena . These actions are complemented by significant investments in PalabancaSport for the use of energy from renewable sources and the use of gas whose combustion phase was compensated thanks to Gas Sales Energia, the main sponsor of the red and white team, including the installation of new LED technology lighting fixtures and efficient heat pumps.

Specifically, Gas Sales offset 508 tCO2 eq by purchasing corresponding carbon credits, thus contributing to the support of two projects that produce hydroelectric energy in India. These initiatives strengthen the contribution that society makes towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The commitment also extends to the involvement of the Palabanca public, with communication actions and the installation of tools to promote a more environmentally friendly approach.

Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza can also count on the support of Banca di Piacenza, organizational partner and one of the first banking groups to supply electricity 100% from renewable sources, and Ponginibbi Group which contributed by supplying electric cars to the company. All this emphasizes the joining of forces in the implementation of eco-sustainable practices.
