“The women who changed the world have never needed to show anything other than their intelligence”, these are the words of Rita Levi Montalcini.
Dr. Montalcini was born in Turin in 1909 and in the 1950s she discovered the axonal structure of the nerve fiber and for this discovery she received the Nobel Prize for medicine. Rita wrote about her successes that they were the result of a lot of tenacity and the support that she always had from her parents, that nothing in her life was simple but she always persevered. During the Second World War she had to escape from her city due to the bombings and rebuild from scratch all her experiments created with years of sacrifices, she survived the holocaust and later after returning to Turin she moved to America . Rita Levi Montalcini is an example for all those who should dare but don’t, in fact she is only by going beyond the ordinary, pushing herself further, that the extraordinary is discovered. All scientific and medical discoveries were made because someone didn’t stop at what was known but went further.
Maria Isabella Bellisario from Turin also had great success when she joined Olivetti in the 1960s and over the years became head of the operational management, fighting for many years for equality between men and women.
