A person set himself on fire outside the New York court where Donald Trump’s trial is underway. Police tried to put out the flames on the body before the man was taken away by an ambulance.
The severity of his condition nor the reasons for the gesture are not clear.
According to police sources, the man crossed the street towards the park in front of the court, throwing some flyers, then took an unidentified object out of a backpack and set himself on fire.
Another person immediately intervened with a fire extinguisher, while an emergency services operator tried to provide immediate aid.
According to an eyewitness, who declined to be identified, the man wearing jeans and a dark gray T-shirt fell to the ground. He was in an area of the park that had been cordoned off for Trump supporters.
Some of the pamphlets referenced former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Al Gore and attorney David Boies, who represented Gore in the 2000 presidential election recount.
