Finally the price of used cars in Italy after years of high prices.
The good news comes fromAutoScout24 AGPI indexwhich measures the prices of second-hand cars for sale on the portal and considers used vehicles published less than 18 weeks ago with a value of less than 250 thousand euros.
In summary in the first quarter 2024 The average value is 22,060 euros, down -3.6% ricompared to the previous quarter and -1.1% compared to the same period last year.
On a monthly basis, a March the average price of a used car was almost 22,100 euros, slightly increasing compared to the previous month (+1.9%) e down by -2.8% compared to the same period last year.
Considering 2024from the beginning of the year to March the value is substantially stable (-0.1%).
Used cars, less troubled waters
The trend reflects a dynamic context in the used car sector, which after a long period of strong pressure on the wallets of Italians, is finally starting to give signs of settlement.
But how is this trend reflected among different diets? Electric cars drop together with petrol and diesel, while hybrids rise in cost, and have recorded the lowest drop since 2019.
How electric cars are doing
In the first quarter of 2024 the average price of a used car electric and of 31,350 euros, down by -12.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
On a monthly basis, the average price of an electric used car in March was €30,245, down by -13.4% compared to the same period last year and by -0.2% compared to the beginning of the year.
The hybrids
In the first quarter of 2024 the average price of a hybrid used car and of 33,920 eurosdown by -0.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and by -3.1% compared to the beginning of the year.
On a monthly basis, the average price of an electric used car in March was 34,750 euros, down -0.9% compared to the same period last year but up 4.7% compared to the beginning of the year.
Thermics, petrol and diesel
In the first quarter of 2024 the average price of a car used diesel and petrol is 20,750 euros, down by -3.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
On a monthly basis, the average price of a used thermal car in March was almost 20,620 euros, down by -5.8% compared to the same period last year and by -1.6% compared to the beginning of the year.
The situation is normalizing.
