Mitsubishi’s new one-tonne pickup achieves five stars in key safety tests, setting a major milestone in automotive safety standards.

Mitsubishi Motors has set a new benchmark in vehicle safety with its all-new Triton one-tonne pickup, achieving top marks, five stars, in both the ANCAP 2024 and ASEAN NCAP 2023 safety tests. This makes the Triton the first dual cab pickups to receive the highest rating under the rigorous ANCAP protocols 2023-2025, covering Australia and New Zealand.

The remarkable performance of the Triton in ASEAN NCAP as of December 2023 and recent ratings ANCAP testify to Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to the safety philosophy, aimed at creating a mobility society without road accidents through the continuous development of safety technologies and the dissemination of knowledge on road safety.

The brand new Triton adopts the highly rigid RISE bodywork, which absorbs energy and minimizes deformation of the passenger compartment in the event of an accident, as well as seat belts and eight SRS airbags designed to offer high levels of occupant protection. To ensure preventative safety performance, safety features such as the Active Stability Control (ASC), which prevents skidding, and the Frontal Collision Mitigation (FCM) system with detection of cyclists and pedestrians.

Mitsubishi Motors’ Triton, which traces its origins back to Forte launched in 1978has produced approximately 5.7 million units across five generations in the 45 years since then, sold in approximately 150 countries worldwide, making it one of Mitsubishi Motors’ global strategic vehicles.
