A 53-year-old worker from Casoria (Naples) died on 11 April in a factory in Marcianise (Caserta); An investigation for manslaughter has been opened.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere has opened a case on the death of Carlo Amendola, the worker from Casoria (Naples) who died last Thursday following an accident in a factory in the Marcianise industrial area, in the province of Caserta; the hypothesis of the crime is manslaughter, the man’s body has been seized in view of the autopsy. The 53-year-old would have been hit by machinery, suffering injuries that led to death.
The incident dates back to April 11th. Amendola, according to reconstructions, was working on a winding machine when, for reasons that remain to be ascertained, he was seriously injured; colleagues raised the alarm and the 53-year-old was rushed to the emergency room of the “Cardarelli” in Naples, but the doctors were unable to do anything to save his life: a few hours after arriving at the Neapolitan hospital on his heart stopped beating.
Only the day before, still in the Caserta area, a 33-year-old from Maddaloni had lost his life after being electrocuted while operating a fire engine on a construction site in Grazzanise. Last March 13, 26-year-old Giuseppe Borrelli died in San Marco Evangelista after his body was stuck in a machine in a company that produces aluminum laminates; Seven people are under investigation for this matter. Finally, on 9 April, a worker from a food company in Piedimonte Matese was seriously injured in her hand, stuck in a machine, and only a delicate surgical operation avoided amputation.
