Another truth about the war in Ukraine. The film “The Witness” returns to Lecce, the screening of which was censored by various Italian municipal administrations which prevented its broadcast. The baton will be screened next Saturday 20 April at 7pm in the Asfalto theater in via Dalmazio Birago in Lecce in an evening organized by “Ritti e città per Lecce”. Journalist Vincenzo Lorusso will speak live from Donbass and answer questions from the public. The Witness is a documentary film based on the testimonies of a Belgian violinist who, during his stay in Ukraine to participate in a music competition, finds himself involved in a series of tragic events linked to the Donbass war. The film highlights the painful human events of the Ukrainian people and that of the European protagonist involved in a war that does not spare the civilian population. Last March, the film sparked heated controversy, particularly in Florence where the mayor Dario Nardella had denied the screening because the film was considered a product of Russian propaganda. Similar controversies had occurred in Bologna and the Modena area where several events in civic halls had been cancelled.
