At the Vitale Study Center a review on “How to talk to children about death”

At the Edoardo Vitale Study Center in via Lanfranconi 1/7, where So.Crem Genova is based, from Wednesday 17 April, as part of an exhibition that will be divided into seven appointments always scheduled on the third Wednesday of the month, a delicate topic will be discussed .

The title of the event is “How to talk to children about death”: reading circles for parents and teachers; speakers of the various meetings will be professionals in the sector. The curators of the exhibition are Linda Alfano, Francesca Angelini, Paolo Fontana and Anna Porta.

The first appointment on Wednesday 17 April is on the theme “Oscar and the Lady in Pink” by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Playwright, novelist, short story author, essayist, director, translated into 48 languages, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, member of the Académie Goncourt since 2016, is one of the most read and represented authors in the world. The text recounts the last days of the life of Oscar, a child suffering from cancer, through the letters that the little boy writes to God every day.

Wednesday 15 May we will talk about “Crescerò”, the new book by Linda Alfano, Ivano Malcotti and Giancarlo Nivoli.

Wednesday 19 June, it will be the turn of “Il Sentiero” by Marianne Dubuc.

After the summer suspension, it will resume on Wednesday 18 September with “A bridge to Terabithia” by Khaterine Paterson.

Wednesday 16 October, appointment focused on “And if death were a forest?”, book by Gabriele Ventura and Chiara Scardicchio.

On Wednesday 20 November, there will be a debate on “The Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore” by William Joyce. It will close on Wednesday 18 December with “Il Buco”, a book by Anna Llenas.

The starting point from which the initiative moves is precisely the awareness that, when faced with death, children are very often kept in the dark about what is happening. In reality, even the little ones must be involved in this process of change that bereavement inevitably involves and it is necessary to be ready to answer all the questions they may ask about death.
