A building collapses in Nerviano: the Civil Protection simulates a maxi-emergency in Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII

The camp on Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII in Nerviano was transformed for one night into the scene of a maxi-emergency: there, in fact, on the evening of Friday 12 April the collapse of a two-storey building was simulated as part of an exercise that involved Radio rescue, dog rescuers and civil protection drone units.

«The joint exercise demonstrated how the complementary capabilities of the teams involved contributed to the success of the simulated rescue operations – underlines the mayor Daniela Colombo -: the Radio Rescue units have guaranteed effective communication and timely action in the field, the Dog Rescuers, with the help of their faithful trained dogs, have provided essential support in the search and recovery of any people trapped under the rubble and the Drone Units, using advanced aerial surveillance technologies, provided a detailed overview of the affected area identifying the critical points to guide the rescue operations”.

«During the exercise, the effectiveness of the collaboration between the different units emerged – continues the first citizen -; the timely response and synergy between the teams they made it possible to optimize rescue operations by minimizing the response time and maximizing the chances of saving the people involved in the simulated accident. What was learned during the simulation it will be fundamental for planning new Civil Protection training activities. Through exercises and continuous evaluation of operational protocols it will be possible to guarantee an increasingly effective response in the event of an emergency in the area».
