petrol at 6 month highs

Petrol prices they reached the highest level of the last 6 months. The diesel, on the other hand, recorded a sharp decline. This is what emerges from the latest survey by Staffetta Quotidiana which also added that the delicate situation in the Middle East does not seem, at least for the moment, to have influenced the oil markets. In fact, this morning the Brent price opened lower.

According to Staffetta Quotidiana, last Friday the prices of refined products recorded their second consecutive increase, due more to structural causes than to the winds of war blowing from the Middle East.

So, how much does a full tank of fuel cost in Italy today? The average prices charged communicated by the managers to the Price Observatory of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and processed by Staffetta Quotidiana, indicate that the petrol in self-service mode it reached 1,914 euros per liter (+2 thousandths, companies 1,920, white pumps 1,900). The diesel (sef service)however, stood at 1.808 euros per liter (-1, companies 1.814, white pumps 1.795).

Moving on to the served, the average price of petrol recorded is 2.051 euros per liter (+1, companies 2.095, white pumps 1.964). That of diesel, however, is equal to 1.948 euros per liter (-1, companies 1.992, white pumps 1.860). We then served LPG at 0.715 euros per liter (unchanged, companies 0.724, white pumps 0.704), methane served at 1.321 euros per kg (-1, companies 1.342, white pumps 1.304) and LNG 1.155 euros per kg (+1, companies 1.149 euro/kg, white pumps 1,159 euros per kg).

And on the highway? According to the latest survey, we have self-service petrol 1.996 euros per liter (served 2.255), self-service diesel 1.911 euros per liter (served 2.176), LPG 0.851 euros per litre, methane 1.472 euros per kg and LNG 1.176 euros per kg.

Codacons has intervened in recent days regarding the high cost of fuel who underlined that the price of petrol in served mode has exceeded 2.5 euros per liter in various facilities both on the motorway and urban networks, and there are an ever-increasing number of fuel distributors selling green fuel above 2, 4 euros per litre.

Codacons then notes that many facilities do not communicate the price lists charged to the public to Mimit in a timely manner. The consumer association therefore raises the alarm about the escalation of prices at the pump and asks the Government for intervention on excise duties.

Beyond the extreme cases where fuel is sold at dizzying prices, the escalation of price lists at the pump is evident, which will have a heavy impact on Italians’ spring long weekends, worsening the cost of travel. The Government must intervene on excise duties and must do so now, to prevent the wave of increases at distributors from causing chain effects on retail prices, further impoverishing families.
