Following the announcement by the Puglia Region of the imminent departure of the single emergency number (Nue) 112the unions are calling for an “urgent meeting” to “protect the operators of the Single Response Centrewho should have taken up service in the Campi Salentina office, in the Lecce area, and who instead find themselves catapulted to the Modugno office, in the province of Bari”.
Carlo Cirasolasecretary of the CSA, the coordination of autonomous trade unions which, together with Fp Cgil and UilFpl, reports to Ansa the intention to meet the regional administration before startingscheduled for tomorrow.
The call migration path will start from the telephone districts of Bari And Toasts and then it will involve all the others by May 28th. The unions accuse the Region of «anti-union behavior».
Cirasola explains that «there are around fifty response staff they have signed the contract with the Region for the Salento office which is not open due to administrative problems. And we don’t know if it will ever open since no one has given us any indication about the timing.”
The inconvenience for operators is the distance. «These are workers who live in Lecce and in the municipalities of the province and who if they had known they had to go to Bari, would most likely have refused the contract – he continues – because now, they will be forced to travel more than 300 kilometers a day, there and back. Many of them have a single income, some do not have their own transport and reconciling all this with the Nue shifts, especially the morning ones which start at 6.30 and the night ones, is impossible both due to the expenses to be borne and the stress of the trip », adds the secretary, highlighting that the contractual framework is also not going well.
«In all the regions where the Nue started, the response workers are classified in a C level, instructors – he says – here in Puglia instead as B, lower compared to the responsibilities they have».
Cirasola announces that «we are ready to take all necessary measures from the workers’ assembly to the meeting with the press. Let’s see what will happen in the next few hours.”
