The Mayor of Ariccia, Gianluca Staccoliexpressed his immense pain for this tragedy: “I learn with great sorrow of the passing of Fabrizio Procaccini, a young 14-year-old from our city, who passed away due to a tragic accident. The news also hit Genzano hard, where Fabrizio passed away late yesterday afternoon, after being precipitate from the ridge on Lake Nemi while he was walking along Via Perino. According to what transpired, Fabrizio was in the company of some friends at the time of the accident, and was spending some carefree time together with smiles, jokes and some souvenir photos. It was a moment of joy interrupted by a terrible fate: it seems that Fabrizio hung himself from a tree branch, which then broke, causing him to fall down a 30 meter cliff, until he reached the rocks below, without any possibility. of escape.
The competent authorities, including the Nemi Fire Brigade and the Carabinieri of the Velletri Company, intervened promptly at the accident site to manage the situation. Despite desperate attempts to resuscitate Fabrizio by the medics who rushed to the scene, unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for him.
The young man’s body was initially taken to the Castelli Hospital in Ariccia, but was subsequently transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Tor Vergata Polyclinic for further investigations.
