Savignano (Modena), 13 April 2024 – “We do not Surrend: We want to know what happened to our father. We are certain he was killed. It is known that there was a carer with him and how the woman disappeared into thin air”. The second request for dismissal arrived a few days ago in the case of Luciano Coppi, the 77-year-old farmer from Savignano who died on 22 November 2020 in circumstances more mysterious than ever. The man was found dead in his bed. Following an initial opposition to the request for dismissal presented by the victim’s family, the judge rejected it and ordered new investigations in light of the party’s advice, which indicated that the elderly man had died of suffocation.

Now the pm decided to formulate one new storage instance for the same reasons at the time: that is, the technical consultant would not have detected elements that could lead to anything other than a natural death. The lawyer Giorgio Pelliciardi, who represents the 77-year-old’s family, promptly filed an opposition, filing a new opinion in recent days. The report, signed by the expert Dr. Gubellini, reports the same conclusions as the first: the medical examiner reiterates how there are extremes to evaluate the episode as a violent death. In fact, the report highlights elements that identify a death from suffocation. In fact, on the body of the elderly farmer, generic signs typical of asphyxia, signs of acute respiratory compromise and traumatic injuries (ecchymoses and abrasions) were found.

Not only: the party expert also reports blood stains on the pillow of the victim and other stains on the clothing such as to suggest a traumatic and violent cause of death. Now we are waiting for the hearing to be scheduled: the file opened in the prosecutor’s office was for the hypothesis of the crime of murder, but against unknown persons. The man’s children have always maintained that their father was killed: beyond the medical-legal report, valuable objects had disappeared from the man’s home but, above all, the caregiver hired on probation had immediately disappeared into thin air.

It was there who raised the alarm victim’s sister-in-law since the man wasn’t answering his phone. That Saturday morning (November 21, 2020) the farmer had accompanied his new Moldavian caregiver, who had been working for him for a few days in Spilamberto. The woman was supposed to return to her house only the following Monday. Instead, a few hours later, on Saturday afternoon, the woman had reappeared together with a man: both would have been accompanied to Savignano by a third person.

“The caregiver was supposed to return on Monday but she never showed up again – says the victim’s son, Marco Coppi – we objected because my father’s death cannot be a natural death. Yet for the second time they want to dismiss it. This woman l ‘have they found it? Why, if she was supposed to return on Monday, did she not show up? This woman’s cell phone was hung up at 5.30 pm on Sunday morning at my father’s house. And my father, according to the reports, was already at that time dead. The woman made many calls starting at midnight on Saturday… to whom?”.
