Tombi! Special Edition he showed up again with a gameplay videos on the occasion of the Guerrilla Collective, proving to be still in great form with this interesting reissue of the “2.5D” platformer from the PS1 erawhich will surely delight nostalgic people.

Produced by Limited Run Games, Tombi! Special Edition presents the original contents reworked and reconstructed through the new Carbon Enginein collaboration with the creator of the original, Tokuro Fujiwara, which guarantees remarkable fidelity to the source material.

The release date of Tombi! Special Edition had already been announced a few days ago and is scheduled for August 1, 2024 on PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, but here we see some new sequences of the game which, for the moment, takes on the original name of Tomba! Special Edition, waiting to see if the classic Tombi version (in our area) will resume on the European market.

The classic with various additions and modifications

It’s not really a remaster, but rather a sort of port created through emulation with the Carbon Engine, which guarantees absolute fidelity to the original.

They were involved in the project Tokura Fujiwara and Fujita Harumi, respectively director and composer of the original game, and the general structure of Tombi! Special Edition is essentially the same as the original, with some variations applied in terms of design and control system to modernize the experience a bit.

The game now supports various new featuressuch as the ability to save the game at any time, rewinding the action, an option to support analog sticks and a museum mode that allows you to consult previously unpublished documents, high-resolution artwork and various promotional material.
