Dynamic locking is a smart security feature offered by Windows that increases the protection of user data and privacy.

This system uses Bluetooth technology to detect the user’s presence and, in his absence, automatically locks your computer. In this article, we’ll explore how to enable and use dynamic lock on Windows, moving from setting up your Bluetooth device to final dynamic lock setup. To start taking advantage of dynamic lock, it is essential to first pair a Bluetooth device with your Windows 11 PC.

The process begins by activating Bluetooth on your phone or on any other mobile device you want to connect. After putting your device into pairing mode, you can proceed with pairing with your PC. To connect your device to Windows 11 via Bluetooth, you need to go to system settings. This can be done by clicking the Start button and selecting Settings or by right-clicking the Start button and choosing Settings from the context menu. Another quick option is to press Windows + I keys to open Settings directly.

Inside the Settings, select the “Bluetooth and devices” tab in the left panel. Here you need to activate the Bluetooth switch if it is not already active. Next, click on the “Add device” button and in the dialog box that appears choose “Bluetooth”. The system will begin to search for available devices; as soon as the name of your device appears in the list, click on it to proceed with pairing. A pairing request message will appear on your mobile device; after verified that the PIN displayed matches to the one shown on the PC and confirming the pairing, click on “Connect”. Once you receive a message confirming the success of the operation and click on “Done”, the pairing between the Bluetooth device and the PC with Windows 11 will be completed.

Dynamic Block Configuration

Once you have established a Bluetooth connection between your PC and your mobile device, you can proceed Dynamic Block configuration in the Windows 11 operating system. To do this you need to return to the system settings, this time selecting the “Account” item from the left panel.

By scrolling down to the Additional Settings section, you can find it the option relating to Dynamic Lock (“Dynamic Lock”). Clicking on it will expand this section where it will be possible to tick the option that allows Windows to automatically lock the device when you leave (“Allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you are away”).

Once this feature is activated it will appear under the Dynamic Block section also the name of the smartphone or device previously paired via Bluetooth. At this point just close the Settings application to complete the configuration. With these simple operations, a further level of security is guaranteed: every time you move away from the computer and take your smartphone or any other device paired via Bluetooth previously configured for this purpose, after just 30 seconds of inactivity Dynamic Lock will automatically PC screen lock.
