call of Duty available from day one on Game Pass And no PS4 and Xbox One versions: for journalist Jeff Grubb this would be the definitive bet for Microsoft, an extreme attempt to catch up with Sony or accept defeat.

A few hours after the Wall Street Journal’s report, according to which the next Call of Duty game will be on Game Pass at launch, Grubb explained that with a move like this Xbox could really convince users from the previous generation to choose Series X|S.

“Put Call of Duty on Game Pass and don’t launch it on Xbox One and PS4,” the journalist wrote. “And if that doesn’t move the needle when it comes to convincing people to choose Xbox as their next-gen platform, then there is nothing to do.”

A very expensive gamble

Jeff Grubb is probably right in saying that if Call of Duty on Game Pass isn’t enough to convince skeptics, nothing willso it’s all the better to try and understand whether there is a possibility of catching up within the current generation or not.

Moreover, many have seen just such a perspective in investing for almost 70 billion dollars that Microsoft had to do for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, only to then implement a fundamentally multiplatform strategy.

At the same time, however, give up huge revenue which entails every annual release of Call of Duty, particularly on PS4 and Xbox One, does not appear to be a viable option.
