PlayStation Portal it was a successful peripheral, so much so that Sony decided to celebrate it by releasing a trailer full of press quotes, naturally positive. For those who don’t know what we’re talking about, we can define Portal as a wireless controller with integrated screen for home streaming of PS5 games. At the time of the presentation the general reception was not very positive, but evidently many players were tickled by the idea of being able to play on the move in their environments, so they bought it en masse.

In our review of PlayStation Portal, we highlighted how it “only does what it was designed to do: remotely play all the games on your PlayStation 5 mounted at home.” So it has exactly the functions of Sony’s official Remote Play app.
The only real difference is that with Portal “you have hardware dedicated exclusively to this purpose with an overall acceptable screen and a perfectly integrated DualSense.” So whether it is useful to you or not can only be decided by you, where in any case we are faced with hardware that is defined as underused by the article.
At this point many expect PlayStation to do something portable, as Xbox seems to be doing. The success of Portal is indicative in this sense and shows that there is a desire to play on the move even among PlayStation players. Some rumors already speak of new portable hardware arriving from Sony, but for now there is nothing concrete and the company has not launched any signals in this sense. We’ll see in the future.
