For Jez Corden, journalist for Windows Central, the headlines of Xbox they are destined to become everyone multiplatformincluding those from iconic series like Halo and Forza. Corden spoke about the topic in the Xbox Two podcast discord channel, with his words being taken up by various gaming forums.
Inevitable future?
According to Corden, Xbox plans to become more like Steam in the future, with cheaper prices, regular offers and greater openness for developers.
The hardware, already marginalized today, will be designed for the brand’s closest fans, but will be considered niche as it is, for example, Steam Decks. Corden also revealed that the next Xbox should allow side loading of Steam, just to make it clear how far Microsoft wants to go in its new approach to the market.
The reason for all this? The Redmond house does not expect to grow on the hardware side: “Nobody wants to give Xbox a chance, so this is what we got from Sony’s monopoly.”
Corden then reiterated his speech on X, making it clear that all Xbox titles will become multiplatform. Moreover, the success of the recent launches of games from Xbox Game Studios on PS5, in particular Sea of Thieves, makes it clear that these are games that even the competition wants to play.
In any case, for now we are still talking about rumors, even if Xbox’s strategy now seems quite clear on the merits.
