Tomorrow we will probably see the announcement of sequels Of Returnalexactly three years after the launch of the extraordinary roguelike-style shooter on PS5: the Housemarque teaser leaves little room for doubt.
The eyes represented in the image in fact they are undoubtedly those of Selenethe protagonist of the game: an astronaut who crashes her ship on an alien and mysterious planet, Atropos, and here remains trapped in a virtually infinite loop.
We therefore bet that the announcement concerns Returnal, then, but what the team will present tomorrow is a new chapter of the saga or an expansion of the original game? Considering the timing, it is reasonable to lean towards the first hypothesis.
Three years is indeed a long time to come out with a DLCbut above all we already know, by Housemarque’s own admission, that the work on Returnal took four years and therefore it is reasonable to expect a teaser of the new chapter with a release window set for 2025.
How will it be?
Housemarque’s talent literally exploded thanks to the opportunity that the Finnish team received from Sony, so we imagine that for a sequel the members of the studio thought about expand and enrich that experience from all points of view.
If possible, in short, an eventual Returnal 2 will be even more spectacular than the first episode, more frenetic, more solid and who knows, maybe even more challenging. We doubt the roguelike structure will be set aside, given that it characterized the game so strongly, so we will certainly find it again.
